The IP protection level test is mainly conducted based on two standards: GB/T4208-2008 and IEC60529:2001. Equipment used in China usually uses the GB/T4208-2008 standard for testing and issues a Chinese inspection report. Equipment that needs to be exported generally issues an English inspection report according to the IEC60529 standard.

The first number indicates the range of dust resistance of the device, or the degree to which people are protected from harm in a sealed environment. I represents the level to prevent solid foreign objects from entering, with a maximum level of 6;

The second number indicates the degree of waterproofing of the equipment. P represents the level of water prevention, with a maximum level of 8.

IP code:

A code system that indicates the level of protection provided by the enclosure to prevent human access to hazardous components, the entry of solid foreign objects or water, and additional information related to these protections.

IPOO: represents the lack of protection requirements for equipment;

Protection level test method:

First digit:

IP1X: represents that a spherical test tool with a diameter of 50mm cannot enter the gap and enter the interior of the product;

IP2X: represents that a spherical object with a diameter of 12.5mm cannot penetrate the product gap;

IP3X: Refers to an object with a diameter of 2.5mm that cannot pass through the product gap;

IP4X: Metal wires with a diameter of 1mm cannot pass through product gaps and affect hazardous components;

IP5X: Place in a sand and dust box, open the cover and check that there is no dust entering the interior of the product,

IP6X: The product needs to be vacuumed and placed in a sand and dust box. After opening the cover for inspection, it is classified as dust tight and no dust can enter. It is judged to meet the standard requirements;

Second digit: Waterproof test

IPX1: represents vertical dripping, with no effect on vertical dripping. The water flow rate is 1mm/min, and the test lasts for 10 minutes;

IPX2: 15 degree drip, when the vertical surfaces of the shell are tilted within 15 degrees, the vertical drip should have no harmful effects, and the water flow rate is 3mm/min, with each tilted position for 2.5 minutes;

IPX3: Water spraying test, with each vertical surface raining within 60 degrees without harmful effects, with a water flow rate of 10L/min and a test time of 10min;

IPX4: splashing water, splashing water in all directions of the shell has no effect, and each vertical plane is exposed to rain within 180 degrees. The water flow rate is 10L/min, and the test time is 10min;

IPX5: Spray water in all directions of the shell without any impact, with a water flow rate of 12.5L/min and a test time of 3min;

IPX6: Strong water spraying, with no harmful effects in all directions of the shell. The water flow rate is 100L/min, and the test time is 3 minutes;

IPX7: Immerse in water for a short period of time. After immersion in water at the specified pressure for a specified period of time, the water immersion of the shell will not reach a harmful level. Place it in a submerged water tank, usually at a depth of 1 meter, and the test time is 30 minutes;

IPX8: Continuous immersion, depth of 1 meter, immersion time of 1 hour, specific depth and time of immersion negotiated between the manufacturer and the user.
